The Responsibilities of the Governance Committee

  1. The Governance Committee shall have a minimum of three members, one of whom shall be a Director on the Board. The Committee meets on the 2nd Monday of every month.
  2. The Governance Committee is responsible for the supervision of compliance with the CCRA By-Law # 1 (including Protective Restrictions)
  3. The Governance Committee promotes awareness of the By Laws and Protective Restrictions for the Canterbury Common Residents Association (CCRA) and provides advice to Homeowners for projects outside the home.
  4. The Governance Committee reviews and investigates projects proposed by CCRA Homeowners which require approval under the Protective Restrictions and when required makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for or against approval.  For more information you may view Policies and Guidelines for Administration of the Protective Restrictions.
  5. Homeowner requests are managed by the Chairperson for delegation to the Field Consultants to make contact by phone or email, arrange for a site visit with a team partner, complete the site Checklist with the Homeowner then provide recommendations for Pre-Approval to the Chairperson.  The Checklist is a comprehensive recap based on the Protective Restrictions and assists the team in making approval decisions.   6. The Governance Committee monitors requests for Overnight Parking in The Centre parking lot of vehicles belonging to Canterbury Common Residents and guests. Parking is prohibited unless authorized and length of time shall not normally exceed three (3) days.
    Currently, we are asking Owners to use this self checkout tool to open the link for printing The Parking Authorization. Please follow instructions to complete the form for your vehicle. Please print and display on your dash as required.
  7. The Governance Committee’s duties include:
    • Initiating a review of any possible non-compliance with the Protective Restrictions brought to our attention and recommending to the Board any action to be taken.
    • Giving approval to alterations requested by Homeowners which are replacements without substantial changes, and which do not breach the Protective Restrictions.
