Canterbury Common has it all: location, style and a sense of being at home. The welcome smiles and waves of the residents provide a first glimpse of the caring and supportive attitude that prevails throughout the community. The scenic views of the lake, the surrounding wildlife and the surrounding green space provide many of the houses with stunning views. The lakefront Community Centre, the kilometer-long nature trail along the shoreline of Lake Scugog and a permanently protected forest preserve are only a few of the amenities Canterbury Common has to offer. All of this is located within a short distance of the main street shops of Port Perry as well as numerous restaurants.

Among the residents are people from all walks of life. With their worldwide experiences in work and travel, as well as their enthusiasm for all life holds, it is no surprise that many are still active in the small and greater community.

Since construction began in 1996 a total of 340 two-bedroom, (many have added more bedrooms) detached, brick bungalows of various styles have been built. All have full height basements, main floor laundry rooms and access from garages. These single-family dwellings are pleasantly situated on a 123 acre site on the northern edge of historic Port Perry. Whether looking for a lot with a view of the lake, the green space, the integrated parks or the neighbourhood, there is something here that suits the tastes of everyone. Sensible lot sizes make maintenance easy. Pride of ownership is evident in the lovely gardens the homeowners have developed over time.
